Elizabeth Henrietta Monroe was very beautiful. Harry must have been very proud of her.
I originally located her in the 1870 Census living with her father H.B. Shaphoff Jr., 17th Ward, Kings Co., NY. Page 59 and stamped 146. U.S. National Archives Microfilm: Roll 958, Page 146
Both Elizabeth H. (Henrietta?) and her daughter Elizabeth Henrietta are called “Lizzie”, even in the 1900 Census in San Francisco.
Obiturary from the San Francisco Chronicle, Sunday, September 8, 1918:
Monroe--In this city, September 7, 1918, Elizabeth H. Monroe, beloved wife of Henry Monroe and loving mother of Harry C. and Roy Monroe and Mrs Maude Elbert and the late Mrs. Elizabeth Ollon (sic), a native of Brooklyn, N. Y., aged 60 years, 1 month, 3 days.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral services tomorrow (Monday), at 10 o’clock, at her late residence, 1405 Lyon st., near Post. Interment, Woodlawn Cemetery by automobile. Funeral arrangement under the direction of H.F. Suhr and Co.
