Information obtained from records of Madeline Griffith donated to Martinsburg Historical Society, Martinsburgh, WV. According to Mrs. Griffith's records, Michael Pitzer's first wife was Sophia Scharlotta Boshaar, daughter of Balthazar Boshaar and his first wife, Johanna Weider, both of Germany.
According to a record from Trinity Evangelist Lutheran Church, New Holland, Leacok Twp., Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania Colony, Sophia was christened d March 28, 1740. She was 15 years of age when she married Michael Bitzer in March 1755.

According to a record from Trinity Lutheran Church, New Holland, N.E., Lancaster, Pennsylvania Colony, Michael Bitzer [Pitzer] and wife Elizabeth? had a daughter, Catherine, born June 30, 1759, with Matthias Bitzer a nd Catherine Koppenhopper as sponsers.
