From Toby Williams at various times via Email:
It looks like Abner Clark, her second husband (died in about 1854 from what I can tell) is buried in Pleasant Hill, Illinois (Pike County), along with some of his other children, including Emily - a child of Abner and Jane - who appears to have died in 1852 at the age of four. My guess is that is where we might find our Hamptons, and there are three likely cemeteries.

I checked Abner Clark's probate records - in Ralls County, although it appears that he was buried in Pike County. His son's (Abner Smith Clark) records are mixed in with them as they both appear to have died at about the same time. He died intestate, and insolvent, although it seems that he once had some money. He had only three living heirs at the time of his death, Henry and Eunice from his first? marriage and Silas from his second. It appears that Henry later died. At least three of Abner's children appear to have died before him.

In Missouri, the family lived next to Jane's sister Margaret (Billings) Carson. In Illinois, they lived between two of Jane's brothers.

It now seems clear that after Abner Clark died, Jane Billings went to Jersey County either to be with Billings or Hampton relatives, who lived in the same neighborhood as the Williams family. Thus, we know how they came to be in roughly the same place at roughly the same time. Consequently, she should show up on the 1855 state census (and possibly the 1860 Federal) in Jersey County.
