Her mother's will stated: Magadelena, now wife of Wilhelm Pabst. The same doccument records it as Bapst. I have not found this marriage record in the State marriage records online.

The surname Richner is so badly butchered in the records of Logan their isn't a single reference to it that I've found so far. Searched within Logan Co., using the Illinois Marriage index online. This is the only Mattie I could find that had a last name beginning with "R"

Bapst, Lotterle, Richner,

Magdalena Richner Bapst was born at Chestnut Ill.
Her mother was Christine Richner. Christina Richner was first married to a Littlery & had 2 sons Fred and Michal. After his death she married Richner who had one son by his former marriage Charlie Richner. After her marriage to Richner she had 3 children Henry, William, who died at age 21? & Magdalena. Her [daughter Magdalena] parents came from Germany. They homesteaded at Chestnut Ill. Her mother Christina Richner lived her last years at our Home dying in 1906.

His Father died I know not when. I can remember his mother she lived to in her 90's. She lived with daughter Lena Corry at Chillicotthe Ohio. Her name was Elizabeth Brust. Bothe his father and mother came from Germany. His name was Pabst. Ch??? says he had it changed when came to Ill Legaly if he did it would be in Lincoln (Logan Co) Illinois. He was handy at most anything & a good cook. As partner in Store had a lot of thing first . As first Furnace in Basement first gasoline lite [light] one two had[to have] private telephone Papst & Goberman homs & store. He was good farmer but poor with livestock. Hard on horses. He never owned a car but sold some while in store. He was a Republican untillhis later life when he voted the Prohibitionist ticket. Was very much against liquor. Never smoked. In younger years wore mustache. Was about my build. Quite bald. He had respect of entire community even those that didn't agree with him.
