My grandfather, John Stites, practiced law in Louisville and did a lot
of work for the banks. He left law and became president of the
Lousiville Trust co. He was up in years when I was a little girl, but I
can remember when I was 5 or 6 years old, going with my grandmother to
pick him up late in the afternoon. He died when I was about 14.

He moved from Hopkinsville to Louisville to practice law, then became a banker. He was president of the Louisville Trust Company. He was an Elder in the Second Presbyterian Church of Louisville for over 50 years and served as treasurer of the Louisville Presbyterian Seminary in its early days.
