Benjamin Thompson's life is described in the following extract from his obituary in the Cadiz Record:
"Upon reaching maturity Mr. Thompson engaged in the tobacco business [in Hopkinsville] with his father, the firm name being George V. Thompson & Son. This firm was very successful and continued in business until 1896 when the deceased moved to Louisville, where he was connected for ten years with the Louisville Tobacco Warehouse Company. In 1906 he moved to Charlestown, Indiana and engaged in the real estate business, in which line he had been engaged since then." Benjamin died in Charlestown. He is buried in Riverside Cemetery.
