I wonder what the relationship of Maria Catherina Stump is to baptismal sponsors (George Stump & wife) of Johann Georg Boshaar?

Of the family of George Bashore [husband of Maria Catharine Stump], the emigrant, we cannot speak with any certainty, except that he had a son John Michael, and the presumption is that Jacob and Matthias, whose names appear in this vicinity prior to 1756 were his sons.

Among the children of John Michael, the son of the emigrant George Bashore, were the following:
John born 1750
Daniel born September 16m 1752 and died 1822
John Michael Jr.
John Jacob

It will be noticed that there were Three "Johns" in the same family. Two of the same name were not usual in old German families.

[Apparently the writer didn't understand about the difference between Johannes and Johann or about the first name being only a Baptismal name and family naming tradition followed in many European churches.]

Of the foregonings sons, John, the elder, laid aside his non-combative scruples at the outbreak of the revolution and was elected in 1775 a delegate to the Revolutionary Convention at Lancaster, Pennsylvania. His father-in-law, Peter Swartz Sr., removed to the Weat Branch valley and by marrying as his second wife, Magdalena, the widow of Michael Weyland, in December 1772, through her acquired 300 acres, including the site of the old Indian Chief Shikellimy's headquarters, situated half a mile below Milton on the Union County side of the Susquehanna.

In 1774 John Bashore follwoed his father-in-law to the Valley and purchased a tract of land some distance above his father-in-law's. Owing to the dangers of frontier life, because of the savages he removed his family down to his father-in-law in 1777.

In the Summer of 1778 the Indians made an attack on the settlement. The people all escaped in boats with the exception of Bashore, who attempted to get one of the horses and ride down the river bank. Owing to the delay he was shot and killed by the Indians, who also burned the house of Mr. Swartz. John Bashore beside his wife, Elizabeth, left a daughter, Catharine. On June 12, 1772 this daughter of John Bashore married Jacob Wolf, son of George Wendell Wolf of Buffalo Valley, bit late of Tulpehocken, Berks County, Pennsylvania. In 1814 Wolf died, leaving children: Catharine, Elisabeth, Jacob, John, Johathan and Samuel, of whom Samuel was the father of the late Honorable Charles S. Wolf.
