HE MOVED FROM MARYLAND TO VIRGINIA IN 1762.

Thomas Gassaway and Nicholas Gassaway signed as next of kinsmen the inventory of the estate of Nicholas Gassaway appraised 22 November 1757 and filed at court 16 Narch 1758. The final settlement was made 25 February 1761 at which time Thomas received his proportionable share.
Thomas deposed in 1810 that he was them eighty-six years of age, that he had moved from Maryland to Virginia in 1762; and that he had a son named Thomas. John Gassaway, also a son of Thomas, was added to the Virginia tax list 20 Nov 1782 on the motion of the latter.

Page 105--Thos. Gassaway deposes, in Berkeley? (Frederick?), 1810, aged 86, he knew Joshua Hains, brother of Mary Collett, wife of Daniel Collett, who was alive when he left that part of the country where James McCormick lived and went to the Southward and was dead when he returned. He also knew Grace Haines. Deponent came to Virginia from Maryland about 1762. His deposition was formerly taken in Charleston and in Smithfield; has a son of same name.
