Charles ‘ occupation is listed in the directories of 1855 - 1859 as “segars”.
He and Henry Senior appear to be selling segars at the corner of Division & Hester living in Brooklyn. Division street is still listed in Brooklyn as of 1999, but I can not find Hester Street.

In 1870 census Charles is not indicated as living with Henry on the census either.
In 1880 his home address in the city directory is listed as 96 Meserole and so is Henry B. Senior.

Charles died in 1881. His age is given as 54 years. That doesn’t match his age given on the 1860 Census as 25 years. Still, he is the only Charles Shaphoff and his listing in the City Directory stopped the same year as his death record.

He lived with his parents and had no descendents. From the City directories and the 1870 Census, it appears that Henry’s son Charles never left home. Charles is listed in the 1880 City directory living with his parents and no wife was ever listed previously or on this census.

Charles is listed as a Deputy Sheriff in the 1880 Census. He's living with his father.
