! 1850 Federal census of Brown Township, Ripley County, Indiana, page 298A
Dwelling 218, Family #222, line 25. This census gives William Mc Clain
Head of household, age 45 yrs male, white, Occupation Farmer, place of birth
Ohio.
! I could not locate William and Eliza in the 1860 census of Ripley County
Indiana.
! 1870 Federal census of Brown Township, Ripley County, Indiana, page 44,
Postoffice Milam, dwelling #315, Family #315. This census gives William
as head of household, age 66, male, white, occupation Farmer, place of birth
Ohio. In this census along with his wife Eliza is listed a Nancy Johnson,
age 72, female, white, occupation pauper, place of birth Kentucky and Fannie
Johnson, age 40, female, white, occupation pauper, place of birth Kentucky.
I do not know who the two Johnson women could be. Since they are from
Kentucky and Eliza is from Kentucky perhaps they are related to Eliza.
! 1880 Federal census of Brown Township, Ripley County, Indiana, page 2,
dwelling, 15, family 16. This census gives William as head of household,
white, male, age 78, occupation Labor. This census shows William's son
Robert Mc Clain and his wife Emaline and children living in the same dwelling
as William and Eliza.
! The marriage record of William and Eliza can be found in the State of
Indiana, County of Ripley, Circuit Court marriage book #1; marriage license
page #299 and return on page #300 dated 11 of June 1832. The marriage was
performed the 3rd day of June 1832 by A.H. Reed.
! Since both William and Eliza were listed in the 1880 census amd were not
shown on the 1900 census of Ripley County, Indiana I must assume that their
death occured between 1880 and 1900. Since there is no census for the year
of 1890 and I have not located a death date this is the closest date I can
assume.
