Ralph Waldow Herbert was raised by Albert Mc Clain and Nellie Swigel Mc Clain, his maternal U ncle and Aunt. The Federal census of 1910, Monroe Township, Wayne
County, Iowa, Ralph is listed as Ralph Waldow Herbert, Nephew; of Albert Mc Clain. Then in t he 1915 Iowa State census of Walnut Township, Wayne County, Iowa Ralph is listed as Ralph M c Clain, no relationship shown. From this point in his life the surname of Mc Clain was used . On the 4th Feb 1941 in Galveston, Texas an affidavit was sworn in
court giving him the legal right to use the name of Mc Clain. Ralph carried a copy of
this affidavit until his death at which time this legal paper disappeared.

! Medical History:
He had a stroke arount 1961 but with the help and deternation of
Raymond and his wife Clara made a complete recovery. Then about
1968 he was dignosed with lung canser that was inoperable and
passed from this life on Mar 17,1970. I know that he was a borderline
diabetes and had an allergy to the "lock jaw" shot.
