Son of William Kinkead (1736-1821) and Eleanor Guy (1740-1825) was born in Augusta county, Virginia, March 14,1778. He moved wit his father’s family to Woodford county, Kentucky in 1789.
On May 15, 1800 he married Lovie Dictum who was the daughter of Joseph Dictum and Rachel Love. Woodford County deeds show he purchased land in that county on July 27, 1802. The tax lists show he appeared on the Woodford County list for the first time in 1800 and for the last time in 1812. The deed records show the gift of a Negro slave from William Kinkead to his grandson William, son of Guy Kinkead on October 5, 1812.
During the winter of 1812-13, the family moved to the town of Hopkinsville, in Christian count, Kentucky, and the first entry in Christian County records is January 28, 1813, recording the purchase for $800.00 of /2 of the lots Nos. 7 and 8 in the town of Hopkinsville. (Deed book D, Page 98) and on January 17, 1817 purchased a town lot and 200 acres of land in Christian county on the road from Hopkinsville to Nashville. (Deed book G, Page 335).
He died in Christian County, Kentucky between June 7 and July 17, 1818 and his will is recorded in will book C, Page 160. The only child mentioned by name in his will is his married daughter Rebecca Guynn. From the Administration of the estate and subsequent marriage records the following list of children has been compiled:
…
Lovie Dictum Kinkead died in 1841. The only record we have of this is from the minutes of the Presbyterian Church, where an entry appears in March of 1841, stating that Mrs. Lovie Kinkead died in Illinois while visiting her children. There is no indication of the exact location in Illinois where she is buried.
