BRESER or BRASIER, HARRY or HENRY, m. Sept. 9, 1644, Susanna da. of Thomas Spicer of Gd (Gravesend). Obtained a patent for a plantation in Brn adjoining Claes Dircksen the ferryman's, Aug. 3, 1651, as per Col. Man. Apl. 5, 1659, bought of James Surtell half an acre taken from plantation-lot No. 28 in Gd, with a house thereon, as per town rec.

Cornelis Dircksen, b. 1599. Kept goats for their milk in 1638 for Wouter Van Twiller, as per p. 2 of Cal. of Dutch His. Man. Sold cows to Tunis Nyssen (Denyse) in 1643, as per p. 25 of do. Was ferry-master at Brn in 1652, when he sold a lot with house and barn, on the shore of L. I. near the ferry, to Cornelis de Potter, as per p. 55 of do. Dec. 12, 1645, he obtained a patent for upwards of 12 morgens on L. I. next to Harry Breser's land in Brn, as per p. 370 of do. Dec 3, 1652, sold Cornelis de Potter upwards of 2 morgens of land with buildings in Brn, as per p. 376 of do. Oct. 15, 1653, while ferryman, he bought of "Daniel Whytheade" a house and lot at the ferry, which lot Whytheade bought June 2, 1653, of Jan Hayes, as per pp. 378 and 379 of do. Signed his name "Cornelis Dierckse."

Thomas, resided at first on Manhattan I.; was one of the first settlers of Gd in 1643, and as a patentee allotted a plantation-lot Feb. 20, 1646, as per town rec. He resided on the plains in Flds Dec. 17, 1646, while driven from Gd by the Indians, as per Col. Rec.; and d. in 1658, in which year he was one of the mag. of Gd. His will is da. Sept. 30, 1658; pro. Nov. 4, 1658; and recorded on the Gd rec., in which he devises his real estate to his wife and sons, subject to legacies to his daughters. Issue:--Michael; Samuel; Ann, m. John Lake; and Susanna, m. 1st Willem Wathens, m. 2d Henry Bresier. Signed his name "Thomas Spicer."

STELMAN, JAN HENDRICKSE, (English,) in 1651 rented Herry Breser's plantation in Brn. Mar. 7, 1652, he bought of Frederick Lubbertse 15 morgens in Brn, as per Col. Man. of Buk in 1665, as per town rec.; in 1665 represented said town in the Hempstead Convention, and in 1668 a mag.

Thomas, in 1651 in partnership with J. H. Stelman rented Breser's plantation in Brn. See p. 130 of Cal. of Dutch Man. He afterwards removed to Middleburgh (Newtown, L. I.), as per p. 148 of said Cal. A Thomas Stephensen m. Aug. 15, 1645, in N. A., Maria Bernards, wid.
Misc. Notes
Henry Breser (pronounced Bray-szur) was the immigrant. He was a Huguenot. He came to New York City from Essex, England. He patented 33 acres on Manhattan Island in 1644, near the present Franklin Square, extending to Wolferts Valley. He resided for many years in Smiths Valley says R. H. Green who researched and published a long article on this family in the New York Genealogical and Biographical Record, Vol. XXVII (1896), pp. 37-42. This was the C. J. Clooper estate between Franklin Square and Wall Street, usually called Maiden Lane, and Pearl. The patent on file in the Book of patents, Book GG (Dutch language), Office of Secretary of State, Albany, New York, is dataed 1645. In 1643, Henry settled at Gravesend, Long Island, NY. Henry and Susanna had 10 children and Susanna had one child by her first marriage, also Susanna. All the children were baptized in the New York Dutch reformed Church.


John Brasier of St. Giles, Cripplegate, shipwright, aged 24 (on 11/7/1634) witness was carpenter in the “Mayflower”.
The ship was updwards of 400 tons and draws 16ft. of water when fully laden, Orpheus DUNKIN was mate in the “Mayflower”. The ship sailed from Gravesend.
