Paul was the first cousin of Thomas,John and William Tracy.
Paul was descended from Sir William de Tracy, one of the four knights, who in 1170, at the instigation of King Henry ll, assassinated Thomas a'Becket, Archbishop of Canterbury.

SIR PAUL TRACY, Baronet, came into the possession of the manor of Stanway. He was created a Baronet by King James I on 29 June 1611 being the thirteenth from that order. He married ANNE SHARKERLEY, daughter and heiress of RALPH SHARKERLEY, of Ayno-on the-Hill, County of Northampton. She died in 1615 and he married secondly, Anna, daughter of Sir Ambrose Nicholas, Knt. Lord Mayor of London. She died 1625 and Paul died 1626. There were no children by his second wife but had twenty one by the first.

ii. Elizabeth, married Gyles Carter of Sewell, County of Gloucester.
iii. Hester, married Francis Kerle of Much-Marcle, County of Hereford.
iv. Paul, "of Pickadille Hall, nigh James Court", County of Middlesex; married (1) Margaret, daughter of Phillip Moyse of Bansted, County of Surrey; (2) Mary, daughter of George Limiter of County Kent.
v. Susan, died unmarried.
vi. Barbara, married Richard Smith of the Middle Temple.
vii. Susanna, died unmarried.

x. Lucy, born about 1603; married Bray Ayleworth, County of Gloucester.
xi. Margaret, died unmarried.
xii. Sharkerley, died sine prole.
