Misc. Notes
Dear Bill & Penny,
Hello, My name is Sharon Dudding (nee Hoyt) I have been working on my geneology for many years and have come to the understanding that the spelling went back and forth between Hoyt and Hoit. What I do know about about John Hoit is:
He was the son of Joseph Hoit and Ruth Sanders.
He married a Elizabeth Caldwell (Betsy) and had several children.
My geneology indicates though that on May 20, 1928 Elizabeth gave bith to a boy named Hamilton Caldwell Hoyt.
There other children that I have listed are: William Joseph 1824
Ruth Ann 1830
Eliza Hoit 1833
Malen (M) 1837
Anson (M) 1839
Mary 1841
I am a descendent of Hamilton Caldwell, who later migrated to Illinois (the state in which I was born). I do have an advantage though, I currently live in southeastern OH in Athens Co. which is the county just above Meigs Co. This next summer, sooner if schedules avail themselves, I am going to the Meigs Co. library to research cemetaries and get more information on our people.
In the mean time would you let me know more information about your Alexander Hoit? It seems to me I recall my great aunt, Lillian F. Hoyt, tell stories of someone being named after Alexander Hamilton or something like being a descendant of him. That is why I find it quite intriguing that you have an Alexander Caldwell born the same year as Hamilton Caldwell.
Thank you,
Sharon Dudding
