George and Margaret came to the U.S. in 1854 from Wurtemburg, Germany. They settled near Mount Pulaski, IL, where George engaged in farming. Here they raised their family and in time became leading citizens of the township. Both were members of the German Lutheran Church and their exemplary lives were an inspiration to their family as well as to their neighbors and friends.
A man of decided force of character, George Rentschler, was, above all things, a provident and thoughtful father and husband. His farm was well cultivated and he enjoyed the confidence and respect of all who knew him. His death, which occurred in Logan County in the year 1886, just 11 years after that of his beloved wife, occasioned deep expressions of regret from his many friends who had come to know and esteem him as a man of the people and a worker for the best interests of his community.

According to that page he was confirmed 1824.
There is a note on his page that says," Went to America in 1853."
