Birth27 May 1922, Okanogan, Okanogan Co., Wa
Death2 Sep 2000, Belleville, Saint Clair, IL70
OccupationCareer Officer in the Coast Guard
Misc. Notes
I believe his middle name is Douglas.
Lee had to sign a waiver regarding his height to join the Coast Guard. He was over the height limitation. They were afraid he would get curvature of the spine from sleeping in the bunks. He pointed out that all beds were too short for him and as a result, he always slept curled up.
My grandmother told me he liked to cook as a teenager and I think he was a cook in the Coast Guard but that could probbably easily be verified.
An unimportant but interesting bit of information about Lee is that because of his incredible growth as a teenager and young man his development was carefully tracked. Unlike some tall people who have extra long torsos or have especially long legs, Lee was perfectly proportioned, he was not thin or fat either, just a very normal picture on a grand scale.
I believe his middle name was “Douglas” like his grandfather.
