--- Misc. Info
Leistadt and Kallstadt are about 1 mile from each other and today are listed as Leistadt or Kallstadt, Rheinland-Pfalz, DE. They are due west of Ludwigschafen, am Rhein.
Found this note and am placing it here for now.
In the area west of the Rhine River called the Palatinate there was religious war between the catholic and protestant kings of Europe called the 30 years war (from 1619-1649) that killed two thirds of the population of Germany (where much of the war was fought). There were so few people left in the Palatinate that the local princes called on the Swiss Amish and Mennonites of the Canton of Bern to migrate north--which they did beginning in the 1660's--as they were being persecuted in their homeland.
