PORTER, Margaret "Peggy" ( ) [SAUVE]; 92; Auburn CA; Auburn Journal; 2003-3-19; klehm

Peggy went home to be with her Lord on March 12, 2003 at the age of 92. Born September 13, 1910 she was the youngest of 9. She was a 30 year resident of Auburn and lived 27 years at the Woodside Village Mobile home park. She spent her last 2 years with daughter Shirley. She had lots of visitors and family, and loved having 6 of her grandchildren living next door. Peggy worked many years as a dietitian, in hospitals, and was very well known for her excellent cooking and kitchen management skills. She later started working in the home of Charles and Sue Young, Chancellors of UCLA. The highlight in her career came when she was asked to work for Bob and Dolores Hope. She became the celebrity of the celebrities, with her homemade cooking and desserts. Her kitchen was a popular hangout for guests, and she made wonderful friends like Maria Von Trapp, Phyllis Diller, Bing Crosby, and Alex and Faye Spanos. Bob's favorite dessert was her lemon pie. Over the years, Peggy acquired many funny stories and some really good jokes; you could always count on her to tell a good one. After retiring to be around family more, she continued to work part time catering. She always kept herself busy helping family or friends. She enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, and taking bus trips to Reno. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten for her generosity, kindness and sense of humor. She was a blessed woman who blessed others. She was the loving mother of 4 children, twin daughters and 2 sons. Blessed with 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, and survived by her daughter Shirley Tetrick of Auburn. She was preceded in death by her sons James Sauve; Joseph Sauve; and daughter Sharon Carter. You are invited to attend a Memorial Mass, March 21, 2003 at 10:45 am at St. Teresa's of Avila, 1600 Atwood Road, in Auburn. A reception will follow the Mass.
