The family moved from Connecticut to Dutchess Co., NY and then to Liberty about 1825. At the New York State census of 1855, he and his wife Catherine had lived in Liberty for 29 years. Her place of birth was given as Dutchess Co., NY and his as CT. His family had moved from CT to NY shortly after his birth in 1812 and then from Amenia, NY to Liberty about 1825. In 1886 he moved to Kansas but returned to Liberty in a year or two. This trip was reported as testimony at his brother Francis' Will probate hearing. After the return from Kansas, the family moved to Rockland, NY. He died 1 August 1890 and his Will was probated 2 February 1891. His third wife, Hanna Jane was named as executrix of the Will, dated 16 May 1888, Patterson, NJ. The Will named his wife, Hanna Jane, his son Frank, and his grandson Walter Hotchkin of Rockland.
