Oregon where the Lindsay's stayed the winter of 1848. In the spring of '49 t
ey traveled slowly by oxen heading for the gold fields of Sonoma, California
While there the boys made good money freighting with ox teams the supplies t
the gold fields. In 1854, Tilford, William & John made the trip back to Indi
na to put John in a higher school. While in Indiana, Tilford met America A Ke
sey and they were married May 30, 1858 in Dearborn Co., Indiana. America was
the daughter of Dandridge & Mercy Lacock Kelsey and she was born May 4, 1843
