Nothing is known of this individual or his wife Margaret except the information contained in the will of Margaret Adams, which is filed in Augusta County, Va. Will book 4, p. 301. This entry is dated March 15, 1770.
The will is quite lengthy but definitely establishes the relationship of Jan Love and Daniel Love. Affidavits attached to the will by her children also contain interesting information. For example; Robert Patterson, deceased. This would indicate Margaret Adams was previously married to William Patterson and leaves her maiden name in doubt.
At the time the will was made September 3, 1740, Margaret Adams seems to be living within the jurisdiction of Orange County, VA. The date was six years after Augusta County, Va. was established by the General Assembly, however, the business of the people of Augusta County was transacted at Orange County Court House until December 1745, and many of the records for these years have been mixed and confused. The affidavit indicates her land was within Augusta county, Va.

These are to certify to all persons whom, &c., that I, Robert Paterson of North Carolina, Tryon County, son of William Patterson, deceased 00 015- claim any rights or title that is or may be alleged belonging to me of a certain tract of land lying and being in Augusta county upon a small branch on the south side of Linwell’s creek, which said land was taken up by Margaret Adams, the widow of John Adams, deceased. – (Signed) Robert R. Patterson, 1st February 1770.
