Zachariah Adamson, youngest son of John and Rachel Adamson Tannehill, was born probably in 1774. He was originally named only Zachariah, but during the war that followed, so long a time elapsed that they, his parents, did not hear from their son, they gave him up for dead and as they felt they must have an Adamson among their many sons, they added the name to the baby’s and he carried through life the name of Zachariah Adamson. He married Sarah Ewalt and lived and died in Pittsburgh. They had no children and at his death, through some legal maneuvering, his wife inherited his entire estate, which was very valuable. She, in turn, willed it to a nephew who soon squandered a large part of it and dying in a short time the large fortune was scattered among her people. He was a silversmith by trade and I judge, from old letters, a very energetic and good man. He was probably buried at Pittsburgh.
