To all to whom these presents Shall come, know ye that I Patrick Michie of Albemarle County, for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving, but more Especially for and in Consideration, for the love and Affection I have for my Children, do give grant bargain & Confirm unto my Brother Robert Michie, and my Nephew James Michie all my Slaves Viz: Ben, Robin, James, Peter, Fanny, Mill, Luie [?], Jane, Moll, Grace & Jane, with this Express Proviso, and with this Special Trust and Confidence (to wit) that they have hold use & Occupy the Said Slaves to the best advantage they can and Account yearly with me for the Profits of the Said Slaves, during my natural life, and after my decease that they give One third part of the profits, unto my beloved wife Frances Michie, during her natural life, and that the other two thirds they divide in Equal Portions, among all my Children then living and the Representatives of these that may be dead, So that the Representatives of one Child, may Receive only the part their parent if alive would Receive, and after my decease that they make Over and Confirm the property of the said Slaves, unto my Children and their Representatives as above, only allowing my daughter Nancy Michie a Share in the said Slaves as much less in Value, than a Share of one of the other Children, as a Certain Loan office Certificate which I have purchased in her name for her may then be worth, and which she now possesses. In Witness Whereof I have hereunto Subscribed my name and affixed my Seal this Sixteenth day of January 1781.

Johnson, Jane Johnson, Ann Johnson, Patrick Michie and Dorothy, his wife, and orator John Michie of Goochland is administrator d. b. n. of Jno. Boswell. David Wash is dead, leaving representatives, viz: William Wash of Louisa, Thomas, Nathan and Lipscomb Wash, Charles Hester and ----, his wife; John Crank and ----, his wife; Zackariah Matlock and ----, his wife, and Manoah Lastly and ----, his wife. Menr.--does it mean Minister?), executor of John Boswell, of Louisa, 232 acres in Louisa on Chamberlain's Creek joining Henry Crank, William Wash, William Harris and Ashley Johnson. Recorded in Louisa, 14th June, 1790. Answer, September, 1813, by John Crank and Sarah, his wife; Nathan and Dorotha Moorman, guardian to Mary, Elizabeth, Robert and Dolly Moorman, infants of Robert Mooman and said Dorotha, said Robert being son, heir and representative to Elizabeth Mooreman, daughter of Thomas Wash, who married Thomas Moorman, father of Robert. In 1777, Thomas Wash, father of David, made will in Louisa and recorded there. David died without issue. Will of Thomas Wash of Louisa. Johnson vs. Johnson--O. S. 281; N. S. 99--Bill by Chapman Johnson, February, 1810. John Boswell of Louisa died, testate, leaving his brother, Thomas Boswell, and Thomas Johnson (Minr.), father of orator, residuary devisees by which they became owners of land in Tazewell, 2,137 acres, located in 1785 by Zachariah Stanley for himself and Boswell. Stanley has sold 500 acres to Josiah (Isaiah ?) Wynne. Thos. Johnson died, testate, leaving five sons, viz: John B., Richard C., Thomas M., William and orator. Richard C. and William have died unmarried and intestate. Orator has sisters, viz: Dorothy, wife of Patrick Michie; Jane and Ann Johnson, who survive. Thos. Boswell has also died, leaving grandson, Thomas Boswell, residuary legatee. Daniel Harman has a conflicting interest. Since 5th September, 1814, John B. Johnson has died, leaving widow, Elizabeth Johnson, and 3 infants, viz: Thomas, Chapman and Maria Barclay Johnson. Jane Johnson has married Alexander Stuart. Ann Johnson has married ---- Parish (?). Deed by Zachariah Stanley of Montgomery to Chapman Johnson, his interest in land with Boswell. Dated 30th December, 1807. Recorded in Augusta, 30th December, 1807. Will of Thomas Boswell of Ware Parish, Gloucester County. Daughter, Dorothy Churchill; grandson, Thomas Boswell; daughter, Elizabeth Armistead and her daughter, Elizabeth Thornton Armstead; daughter, Frances Thornton Mullins; daughter, Jane Major, widow; grandson, John Armistead; grandchildren, Thomas, Mary Ann, Elizabeth Thornton and Susannah Fauntleroy Armstead; daughter, Ann Longest. Dated 23d February, 1797. Recorded Gloucester, 4th December, 1797. Will of Jesiah Wynne of Tazewell County. Sons, William, Peter, Oliver, David, Harman and Jessiah; son, Robert; wife, Mary; daughter, Jenny; brother-in-law, David Whitley. Dated 16th November, 1812. Recorded at Tazewell, February, 1813. Harris and wife vs. Maupin--O. S. 280; N. S. 99--Bill filed 2d May, 1817, by Wm. Harris, Patsy, his wife, of Albemarle. Thomas Jarman, Sr., of Albemarle died, 1798, intestate, leaving 3 children, viz: William, Mary, wife of Benajah Brown; Betsy, widow of Zachariah Maupin; and descendants of 2 other children, viz: Mary Mullins, late Mary Michie, wife to, John Mullens and John A. Michie; children of Frances Michie, late Frances Jarman, who married William Michie, but which said Frances and William had both died before their father. Thomas Jarman, Sr.; and oratrix Patsey and Marian Brown, late Marian Maupin, wife to Bernard Brown, children of Sarah; another daughter of Thomas Jarman, Sr., who married Daniel Maupin. Patsy came of age in 1807. Thomas Jarman, Sr., died about 3 years ago. William Jarman, son of Thomas, has died, leaving children, viz: James, John, William, Thomas, Pleasant, Dabney, Mary, wife to ---- Woods; Frances, wife to ---- Ballard; Sarah, wife to ---- Ballard; Catherine and Betsy Jarman.
