[Rev. GEORGE PHILLIPS came from England in the ship "Arbella," with John Winthrop, &c., to Watertown, Mass., 1639. He was son of Christopher Phillips, of Raynham-St. Martins, county Norfolk, England, and born (???), 1593. He was a graduate of Cains College, Cambridge, England; A. B., 1613; A. M., 1617. His wife was Elizabeth, daughter of Captain William Walden. George Phillips died July 1, 1644. Mrs. Elizabeth Phillips died January 7, 1681.

Second Generation, Samuel Phillips, born in England, 1625; Harvard College, 1651; ordained June 1, 1652, colleague of Rev. Ezekiel Rogers at Rowley, Mass.; married October --, 1652, Sarah Appleton, born (???), 1627, daughter of SAMUEL APPLETON, who was born at Little Waldingfield, county Suffolk, England, 1586, who came to New England in 1635; Rowley, and died 1670. His wife was Mary Everard. Samuel Phillips died April 22, 1693. Mrs. Sarah Phillips died July 15, 1713, aged eighty-five.

Third Generation, George Phillips, born June 3, 1664; Harvard College, 1686; was minister at Brookhaven, Long Island, N. Y. He married Sarah Hallett, daughter of WILLIAM HALLETT of Fiushing, L. I., and died April 3, 1739.

Fourth Generation, George Phillips, born (???), married February 29, 1707, Hope Stow

(JOHN STOW came from Hawkehurst, county Kent, England, with wife Elizabeth, 1634, to Roxbury, Mass. Died October 26, 1643.

Second Generation, Samuel Stow, born in England; Harvard College, 1645; minister at Concord, Mass.; removed to Middletown, Conn., 1652. He married May 8, 1649, Hope Fletcher, daughter of WILLIAM FLETCHER, from England. Samuel Stow died May 8, 1704.

Third Generation, John Stow, born June 16, 1650, married (???), 1678, Esther Cornwell, daughter of JOHN CORNWELL and wife Joan, of Middletown, from England. Capt. John Stow died June 30, 1733. Mrs. Esther Stow died May 2, 1733.

Fourth Generation, Hope Stow, born September 10, 1679, married September 29, 1707, George Phillips. He died February 26, 1778. She died October 8, 1747.

Fifth Generation, George Phillips, born August 27, 1717, married, 1750, Hannah Phillips, daughter of Thompson Phillips and wife Hannah Cotton.

(Rev. JOHN COTTON, born at Derby, England, December 5, 1585; graduate Cambridge, England, B. D.; minister at Preston. He came to New England with wife Sarah, in ship "Griffin," 1633; ordained October 10, 1633, teacher in the church at Boston, Mass. He died December 23, 1652.

Second Generation, Rev. John Cotton, born March 15, 1640; Harvard College, 1657; married November 7, 1657, Joanna Rosseler, born (???), 1642, daughter of Doct. BRYAN ROSSETER, of Guilford, Conn. He was minister at Guilford, and died in Charleston, S. C., September 18, 1699.

Third Generation, Josiah Cotton, born June 8, 1680; Harvard College, 1698; married (???), 1708, Hannah Sturtevant, daughter of JOHN STURTEVANT of Plymouth, Mass., and wife Hannah Winslow, born (???), 1644, daughter of JOSIAH WINSLOW, who came from England in the ship "White Angel," 1631, Plymouth, Mass.; Scituate, Mass., 1643. The wife of Josiah Winslow was Margaret, daughter of THOMAS BOURNE, from England.

Fourth Generation, Hannah Cotton, born April, 1709, married Thompson Phillips.

Fifth Generation, Hannah Phillips, born July 20, 1728, married George Phillips.

Sixth Generation, George Phillips, born April 4, 1750, married December 9, 1770, Martha Wetmore, daughter of Josiah Wetmore, of Middletown, Conn.

Seventh Generation, Abigail M. Phillips, born (???), married John Porter. Residence, Auburn, N. Y. He died February 3, 1874.

4775. Anne P. Porter, born June 1, 1828, married A. G. Beardsley.
