It is not known who erected the first brick house (in hopkinsville). Among the first remembered was one where Samuel Buckner lives - it had a Masonic lodge in the second story; a small brick oppisite the last named; another where John P. Camplell lives; still another where Henry Gant lives, and another on a back street which belonged to the Glass estate, and several store houses in the main business part of the town. The Hopkinsville Building and Loan Association is not the least factor, perhaps, in the fine improvements of the city. Its name and title denote its character and business, which need no explanation. Its officers and Board are as follows: J. D. Russell, President; J. I. Landes, Secretary; Thomas W. Long, Treasurer; Landes & Clark, Attorneys; Borad of Managers -- George C. Long, J. D. Russell, F.
