Misc. Notes
Ptolemy XII, 61?-47 B.C. (r.51-47), was from the start
overshadowed by his sister, CLEOPATRA, who became his wife and ruled
with him. She revolted (48) against the power of his advisers. At this
juncture the defeated Pompey arrived in Egypt and was killed by Ptolemy's
adviser Pothinus. Julius CAESAR followed immediately, fell under
Cleopatra's influence, and forced Ptolemy to share the throne again.
