EDWARD I "LONGSHANKS", born June 17, 1239 at Westminster, London, England; died July 7, 1307 at Burgh-on-the-Sands, Cumberland, England; christened on June 22, 1239; made ruler of Ireland and Wales in 1254; was crowned King of England on August 19, 1274; shortly after August 5, 1254 at Burgos, Spain married ELEANOR, born about 1244 in Castile, Spain; died November 29, 1290 at Herdeby, Lincoln, England; daughter of FERDINAND III, King of Castile and his second wife JOANA; Princess of Castile; buried on December 16, 1290 at Westminster Abbey, London, England; their daughter


Also m. OCT 1254, also m. 08 SEP 1299 at "C", England, per AF. Also married Marguerite, Princess of France (AFN:8XJD-46) she b. 1279. King of England from 1274 to 1307. He went on Crusade to the Holy Land in 1270. His wife Eleanor accompanied him on this, the Seventh Crusade. During their absence from England, King Henry III died (1272), and Edward succeeded to the throne. Two years later, following their return from the Middle East, Edward and Eleanor were crowned King and Queen of England. Handsome and so tall he was known as "longshanks". He was violent, emotional and ambitious. An important King, he did much to extend English rule to all of Britain, Wales, Ireland and Scotland and to develop law and constitution. George Washington (First President of the United States of America) is also descended from this couple, through their son Edward "Pardon's Progeny, 1974" reported a document (previously unpublished) called, "Tillinghasts. Browns, Pardons and Lechfords of Sussex (England)" by Michael J Burchall of Sussex, England. It claims the descendency from Edward I for the Sarah that follows.
