Misc. Notes
Our information comes out of our family bible - We have her listed as being born in 1812 - her father was Dr. John Stites a "well known Kentucky physician. (according to an articles published in the Louisville Times, Sept. 24, 1953) Elizabeth Frances Stites married James Trabue (b1802,d1886) in 1828 - This James Trabue was the son of Daniel Trabue(b1760) and Mary Haskins Trabue (b1761). He entered into the firm of Jarvis, Trabue and Curd, merchants in 1934 and in 1856 built the 2nd manson on Chestnut Street in Louisville. By 1856 he headed his own wholesale dry goods company named James & Trabue Co. - he was the director of the L&N Railroad and the Bank of KY and was a trustee of the University of Louisville. For 30 years he was the president of Franklin Insurance Company. In 1870 he sold the manson o Chestnut and moved to Walnut Street to his death. James and Elizabeth had 6 children - Richard, Corina, Sarah, James, Mary and Willi
I do not have Elizabeth Stites's mothers name - you may have the right Elizabeth Stites - just the wrong James. There were about 4 or 6 James Trabues in the family going back to 1722.
