Jerred’s Stepfather was Reuben Kelly; Jared was apprenticed in 1813 as a silversmith and clockmaker to William Savage. Jarred Crabb owned land in Todd Co., Ky., in 1829, 1833, 1836, and 1837 and was a hotel owner. A Jerrard (Gerrard) Crabb was in the 1830 Todd Co., Ky., census, a Jarred Crabb in Todd Co. p239 in 1840, and in 1850 District 2 p254, Todd co.
The will of Jarred Crabb was written 6/6/1871, pro. 11/1876, and named widow Elizabeth, son V. W. Crabb and V. W.’s wife Nannie L. Crabb, dau. E.V. Gant, with ex. Son V. W. Crabb, and witnesses J. C. and H. C. Gant (Gary p189, Box X p53).

On the 1870 Census, Jarred is listed as Retired but worth $20000. He and Elizabeth are living with another Crabb approximately the same age as Jarred and Elizabeth (perhaps a Sibling). There are a bunch of really young children that must have come from somewhere as well. Hopefully 1860 will shed some light on what is going on here
