Makes 3 - 9"x 5" loaves
Requires yeast and several hours for rising.
Oven 400° 40-50 min
|This is the bread we made in Kelly’s 3rd grade class with all the children.|
|¼||C||lukewarm water||>||Dissolve yeast in water in small bowl.|
|4||C||boiling Skim milk||>||Combine Milk, Oats & butter in large bowl. Let stand 30 minutes.|
|½||C||Molasses or Brown Sugar||>||Add molasses, salt & Yeast mixture to oats.|
|10-11||cups||Flour (sifted)||>||Add flour until soft dough is formed, a few cups at a time.|
- Place dough in buttered bowl: cover and let rise until doubled in size. Punch down.
- Place dough on floured board (or counter) and knead until dough becomes elastic. (About 10 Minutes)
- Divide into 3 loaves; place in buttered 9 x 5 pans.
- Let rise again.
- Bake for 40 to 50 min. at 400°.
